4047 Aluminum TIG Welding Rods Packet. Designed for use in scenarios where good color matching with the parent material is an important requirement. The 12% Silicon content in 4047 TIG Filler Rods makes them a preferred choice for automotive work, shipbuilding and many other industries where a neat appearance of the finished weld is vital. Benefiting from excellent corrosion resistance combined with a low melting point (approximately 80°C below pure aluminum) ensures a reduced likelihood of cracks and other issues within the weld process.
Furthermore, don’t use 4047 Aluminum TIG Welding Rods if the fabrication requires anodizing. This is due to the silicon content in the rods, as a result it will turn the filler alloy dark grey during the anodizing process. Additionally, the silicon also provides greater fluidity and reduced shrinkage.
WELDING APPLICATIONS
4047 Aluminum TIG Welding Rods is suitable for all types of aluminum castings. Typical applications include repair, surfacing and construction of window frames, tubes, furniture, engine blocks and automotive parts. Frequently used in the aerospace sector and a brazing alloy on thin gauge material.
WELDING POSITIONS
Suitable for all welding positions, except vertical down.
MATERIAL PREPARATION PRIOR TO WELDING
The parent metal surface must be cleaned and also fully degreased prior to welding. Clean joints with a stainless steel brush.
